Paid Search Marketing Manager Needed in Maple Ridge

THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED; HOWEVER, WE DO VALUE GREAT TALENT AND CONTINUE TO ACCEPT OUTSTANDING APPLICATIONS.
Is AdWords Editor is Your Friend?

Established in 2010 and located in the heart of Maple Ridge, Left of the Dot Media turns million dollar domain names into multi-million dollar businesses. This includes the evolving web properties of RentalHomes.com, Christmas.com, Homeowners.com, Renters.com, Oahu.com, and many more.
Our office is waaaay out here in Maple Ridge. The way we see things…  Maple Ridge is a growing, vibrant community filled with talented people who are sick and tired of wasting 500+ hours on the West Coast Express every year. When we located our company out here more than 2 years ago, it was because we were finally fed up and realized that we could create something awesome right here in our own backyard.
If you are the right candidate, you are a wiz in both AdWords Editor and Bing Ads Editor (or at least able to push “Import from Google” in the latter) and can intuitively look at a campaign to identify new opportunities while weeding out the chaff. You should have been living and breathing search marketing for the last few years for an agency, for a large corporate campaign, or for your own search marketing consultancy. It is OK if you have been slapped by Google, but only if you have learned from these mistakes and are willing and able to drive large volume campaigns the right way.

Personality:
  • You must be a risk taker who has a passion for entrepreneurism … maybe you have run your own SEM/PPC consultancy already or have attempted to run your own startup.
  • You must be a self-starter and able to manage yourself and your projects
  • You can self-learn as things change and quickly, because learning is something that you have to do daily
  • You should be up-to-date on your Internet memes (that way you know if we are laughing at you or with you). Bonus points if you have earned a whack of karma on reddit.
  • You should want to build something really cool, so that in a couple of years we all say, “Wow! Look what we’ve built together”
  • You must want to work in a startup
  • You must believe in the mantra of “Work hard, play hard.”
  • You are not satisfied with “It’s OK I guess”, because you understand that sometimes you just got to “fish or cut bait”
  • You must be able to laugh at yourself and roll with the punches
  • You must tolerate animals (On any given day we will have 0, 1, or 2 dogs in the office. We sometimes  foster office cats, bu none of them look like Tard
  • You don’t have to be good at Darts or Foosball, but you should be willing to learn or you will constantly lose and be the one doing the coffee run to Waves on 207th.
Essential Skills
  • 2 to 5 years of Paid Search Marketing experience, driving conversions and leads from within Google AdWords, Bing AdCenter, Facebook, and other mediums.
  • Google AdWords Certified
  • Experience in managing large campaigns and six-figure monthly advertising expenditures
  • Good understanding of conversion metrics, both inside and outside of Google Analytics.
  • Demonstrates a structured and methodical way of working, with the ability to cope with competing demands and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Solid technical understanding: not as a programmer, but as someone who is comfortable enough to know not to infect yourself with spyware and can work quickly in MS Word, MS Excel, and other online tools to help manage your search campaigns (e.g., we’re testing Marin right now).
  • Able to learn things quickly that you were not taught in school
  • Really good communicator in both written and spoken English. Every day, you will be trying to convince prospects to convert in 25, 35, 35 words (plus URL) or less.
 Useful Things
  • Knowledge/curiosity of the online world and domain names (including SEO, affiliate marketing, re-marketing, and lead generation)
  • Knowledge/curiosity of A/B or multivariate testing
  • Knowledge of world geography so that when you do targeting you are not spending all day on Wikipedia
  • Knowledge/curiosity in the hospitality and tourism vertical as several of our upcoming businesses will be in this market
  • Knowledge (and willingness to accept) that sometimes it requires we work around the clock — not because someone is poking you with a sharp stick, but because you want to and we need to
  • Knowledge that you don’t know everything and that we don’t know everything, but if we put our heads together, we can probably figure it out at least as well as anyone else.
