I'm making my mark by...

I have blogged extensively about making your mark, and I would encourage everyone to read the transcript of a speech I gave to our team in Bangladesh in May 2017 as this goes into greater detail about why ‘Make your Mark’ is one of Left’s 10 core values, which can be found here. However, I also encourage you to read a follow up post that I wrote six months later about how I am making my mark personally and about ‘What Winning Means to Me’, found here.
In this post I wrote: “Entrepreneurship is the game. All the preparation you put into summiting your own personal Everest is why we do what we do. It is not the final result that counts, but did you play your hardest? Did you stand up to be counted when it mattered? Did you make a difference and try to change the world for the better? Did you go all in and enjoy the moment? This is what winning means to me. To be given the opportunity to play the game and enjoy every step of the journey.” So yes… go ahead and Make Your Mark… Make your mark every day.

Words Of Wisdom

As for Words of Wisdom, I am torn between two quotes that I try to live life by. Both are kind of instrumental and I use as personal mantras. The first is a quote from Ernest Hemmingway that I have on my coffee cup, and thus look at everyday. “‘Live the full life of the mind, exhilarated by new ideas, intoxicated by the romance of the unusual.” I like that. It is about opening oneself up to new possibilities and believing in the concept that everything is possible.
The second is the quote that we included in our vision video from George Bernard Shaw, “If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.” If you haven’t seen it, you can see where I used this quote here.
